Meet Libby

As an Account Manager at Ellerslie Events, no two days are quite the same for Libby Thompson – and that’s exactly how she likes it.

From managing client enquiries and preparing contracts to conducting site visits and planning upcoming events, Libby works across a wide variety of occasions, helping clients bring their ideas to life.

One of the things she enjoys most about working in events is the variety that comes with each day, along with the opportunity to work with different people and be part of so many unique celebrations.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Most days involve managing client enquiries, conducting site visits, preparing contracts and planning for all my upcoming events. The variety is one of the things I really enjoy about the role.

What first attracted you to working in the events industry?

I was drawn to the fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. I also love the variety that comes with planning and delivering different types of events.

What has been your favourite type of event to work on at Ellerslie so far?

I’ve really enjoyed working on a number of weddings and birthdays. I’ve also loved learning about different cultural traditions and seeing how different cultures celebrate their special occasions. It’s been super interesting to be part of those celebrations.

If you could organise any event in the world, what would it be?

I’d love to work on large sporting events one day. The biggest dream would be something on the scale of the Olympics!

And your favourite event to attend?

I love going to Laneway each year.

What’s your ideal weekend?

Getting a coffee and going for a walk on the beach.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Going to the gym and spending time with friends.

Three words your colleagues would use to describe you?

Kind, creative and open-minded.

If you could give every client one piece of advice, what would it be?

Give yourself plenty of time to plan your event. Starting early ensures everything comes together smoothly.

The variety that every event brings and the opportunity to work with different people.
